Graham Richardson was a young boy living in London during the Blitz of WW2. During the 1950’s and 60’s his family the ‘Richardson Gang’ who are renowned as the rivals of the famous Kray twins started building their empire. By the age of 18 the leader Charlie Richardson was already a successful businessman with a line of scrap yards turning over £100k a year. By the end of the 60’s two of the UK’s most successful organised crime syndicates were locked away for good. During this time Graham Richardson decided to move to Wales and create a new life with his wife Mary, and two children Robert and Trevor. Graham and Mary bought a farm in the Brecon Beacons National Parks and ran several successful businesses, from craft and B&B, to manufacture, to haulage and construction. Both son’s Robert and Trevor were like minded and created business opportunities for themselves.
Working from the family farm Trevor Richardson started his own campsite around his fishing lake during 2005. Trevor decided to make a glamping pod for his own site, which proved extremely successful and turned into a commercial manufacturing venture called The Log Pod during 2007. This business continued to grow and develop up until 2017 when misfortune forced the closure of the family business. Following Trevor’s misfortune his son George Richardson at 24 years old decided to start his own venture Universal Glamping; manufacturing and supplying glamping pods and accessories to the UK and International markets. To date he has supplied over 160 units worldwide, with a 100-unit contract with the United Nations Development Program in Pakistan and turning over £400k+ in his first year of trading. George is successfully growing and developing his business from the family Farm in South Wales and has created several significant partnerships with industry leading figures and companies to ensure Universal Glamping provides the highest quality glamping products with the best engineering, design and innovation in the game.
Universal Glamping’s UK operations are set to grow 100% over the course of the next 3 years, with projected expansion into a larger manufacturing facility, innovative research and design like the GlampLoftTM and GlampRadTM products and continuing developing relationships with key partners across the industry. Universal Glamping is also looking to expand its manufacturing operations into Europe in 2020, with the assistance of our strategic partners in France who are currently developing the European market in anticipation. George has a very passionate entrepreneurial drive which is powered by his vision to create a happier healthier world in which we can all enjoy the fruits of his success.
